According to Berkhoffer, Indians are portrayed as the other, because they are different. The Whites saw the Indians as naked people, with lechery, they practiced polygamy, had sexual promiscuity, always fought, and did revenge against who they hated. The Whites hated their customs and habits. They did cannibalism and human sacrifice which is what White people abhor so they did not like that about Indians. White people had a low opinion of Indians. They disliked their filthy surroundings, inadequate cooking, and certain items of diet that were repulsive to Whites.
